Thinking of critical infrastructure in societies, Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) may not be the first organisations that come to mind. Yet, many societal functions depend on that education and research is secured and maintained, both during war and when the war is over. HEIs also have an important function in fostering, upholding, and safeguarding critical and independent thinking, all important values in a democratic society. In chaotic times, HEIs can also provide a highly valuable sense of normalcy to both students and faculty. As functioning HEIs are key to the functioning of societies, our project looks into the resilience of Ukrainian HEIs and how they have adapted to the challenging circumstances brought by the Russian invasion in February 2022. In addition to having a research component, the project also has a capacity building component that aims to bolster various research skills and to expand the methodological toolkit of early career scientists in Ukraine. This webinar will disseminate lessons learned and findings from the project.
